"Reasonably priced accommodation in a convenient location. We had a good deal for 2 nights in a room with a balcony overlooking the bay. The room was spotlessly clean, the shower was hot and powerful, the laundry room downstairs was very useful, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. "We stayed here for 2 nights before joining a cruise ship. It is not in the downtown area but rather in the pleasant leafy suburb of Parnell, yet within walking distance of the city if you like walking. It is also close to the Domain and the Auckland Museum , and Parnell Road has interesting little shops and cafes.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful...especially the restaurant manager who ran up the stairs with our 2 very heavy suitcases when we arrived.
We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant both nights and breakfast in the morning. The food was much better than i would have expected for a medium price hotel and I would certainly recommend you try it...even if you are not staying here.
We had booked into a lower price room in the older motel section but if we ever get there again, I think I would choose to stay in the newer hotel block where the rooms on the upper floors have views of the city and harbour. - Review from TripAdvisor.
"A true mixed bag of 107 units and suites in a sprawling compound that seems to feature a potted history of motel design styles from the last 50 years. It lies in lovely Parnell, on a winding road removed from the crawling traffic of the main street. Service is efficient and friendly, making this a popular choice for conferences and the odd wedding reception. Another thing we like is that deals can always be done here, so don't feel shy about asking for a special price. The rooms themselves, whether in the older wing or newer North Wing, give the impression of being very well maintained - the 2nd-storey 'motel' or South Wing has aged very well, with spotless kitchens and bathrooms. " Barrycourt is located in the well-heeled suburb of Parnell, renowned for the boutique shops, up market bars and restaurants, which line Parnell Road -a short, but uphill walk away. The serene Rose Gardens are down the road and the Domain, the Museum and shopping on Broadway, Newmarket are a short taxi or bus ride away. Central Auckland is ten minutes away by bus or taxi.
